Weekend In Jackson Hole

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is one of the most beautiful places I've been to. We just spent a weekend in Jackson Hole and enjoyed every minute. It's a charming mountain town, located in the heart of the Teton Range, and there are gorgeous views at every turn.

Although it's a mountain town, Jackson Hole is absolutely gorgeous in the Summer. There is much more to do when the weather is warmer, especially because exploring the Grand Tetons is a must.

We drove to Jackson Hole after spending a day in Yellowstone. I would highly recommend renting a car for your trip in Jackson Hole if you plan to spend anytime outside of the Town Center area. Some hotels have shuttles that take you to/from the Grand Tetons, but it's much more convenient to have your own transportation.

Another great thing is it doesn't get dark until almost 10p. Being from Southern California, we definitely were not used to that! But it made the days feel much longer and gave us the opportunity to see/do more.

Here's my guide to spending 2 days in Jackson Hole. Also, if you have an extra 1-2 days, I would highly recommend spending 1 of your days doing a day trip to Yellowstone. The South entrance of Yellowstone is about 60 miles from Jackson Hole.

Weekend In Jackson Hole

Day 1

Stay @ The Lodge

We stayed at the Lodge at Jackson Hole. Since we weren't in the hotel for much of the trip, The Lodge was decent for the price. Each stay includes free breakfast buffet and free parking. I will say, the breakfast wasn't anything to write home about though. If you're looking for a hotel that's in the town center area (and you're fine with splurging a little), I would recommend the Cloudveil.

Grand Teton

We hopped in our car and drove to Grand Teton National Park. It took about 15 minutes to get to the entrance. There is an entrance fee of $35/vehicle, which grants you access for 1-7 days. Be sure to keep your receipt though! Otherwise, you will have to pay for another pass. We spent pretty much the entire day exploring the Grand Tetons.

We did the Taggart Lake Hike (around 3.8 miles round trip) and the Hidden Falls Hike (around 5-6 miles round trip, depending where you start). Both hikes were amazing and so gorgeous. Taggart Lake is like something out of a postcard. I felt like I could've stayed there and relaxed all day (although, I could've done without the mosquitos/bugs...be sure to bring bug spray!). Exploring the Grand Tetons during your 2 days in Jackson Hole is definitely a top thing to do.

Drinks @ The Cloudveil Rooftop

After hiking about 10 miles, we headed back to our hotel to relax/freshen up. Then we drove to the Cloudveil Rooftop for a drink before dinner. There is a full bar on the rooftop, with a few small plates too.

Dinner @ The Bistro

After our drinks, we walked downstairs for dinner at The Bistro. We ordered the Chickpea Fries and Smoked Trout Croquettes for appetizers. For our entrees, we got the Ricotta Pillows and Steak Frites Au Poivre. Everything was so good - specifically the Ricotta Pillows! A few friends recommended the restaurant and said the Grilled Quail, Escargot A La Bourguignon, Grilled Pork Chop, Venison Filet were amazing too.

Huckleberry Ice Cream @ Moo's

You'll find all types of Huckleberry flavored items in Jackson Hole since huckleberries grow in the mountainous regions surrounding Jackson Hole. Huckleberry Ice Cream is a must during your weekend in Jackson Hole! Moo's is located right across the street from The Bistro, and they serve delicious homemade ice cream. In 2013, their Wild Huckleberry ice cream was even voted the #1 dessert in all of Wyoming!

Silver Dollar Bar

If you're looking for a post-dinner drink, the Silver Dollar Bar is the perfect spot. They have live music almost every night too.

Day 2

Breakfast @ Persephone Bakery

Persephone Bakery is a delicious (and popular) breakfast spot. You can order at the front when you get there OR order ahead and eat at one of the tables. We chose to order ahead and then walked around the Farmers Market while we waited for it to be ready. We both got the Egg Sandwich and it was so good.

Farmers Market

While we waited for our food, we stumbled upon the Farmers Market in the town square area. There were tons of stands with local goods, fresh food, and other cool items. The farmers market happens every Saturday from 8a - 12p.

Drive The Tetons

Since we spent the majority of our first day exploring/hiking through the Grand Tetons, we decided to see the Tetons by car on our second day. Obviously, there is a lot more to hike (Delta Lake is a well known hike that's gorgeous), but we wanted to take it easy. We stopped along the various points and took in the beautiful scenery.

Snake River Brewing

We didn't make it here, but this spot was recommended to us. If you decide to drive the Tetons one day (instead of hike) Snake River is a great

Dinner @ Snake River Grille

Snake River Grille was delicious and another must for dinner. They take reservations, but we got there right when they opened and just sat at the bar. The bar is full service. The SRG Potato Pancake, Roasted Carrots, Risotto, the steak, and the SRG Steak Tartare Pizza are all a must!

Million Dollar Cowboy Bar

The Million Dollar Cowboy Bar is one of the most iconic spots in Jackson Hole. There are pool tables and saddles for bar stools. It's a fun vibe, and a spot you can drop into at any point throughout the day and have a good time. This is one of the top things to do during your 2 days in Jackson Hole.

Jackson Hole Rodeo

If you're looking for the full "Jackson Hole" experience, don't miss the Jackson Hole Rodeo. It's held during the summer months and features bull riding, barrel racing, team roping and saddle bronc riding. Be sure to buy tickets ahead of time, and try and get there 30-45 minutes before it starts for the best seats. You can't bring food/drinks inside, but there is a concession stand with food and alcohol. The Jackson Hole Rodeo is another top thing to do when spending 2 days in Jackson Hole.

Day 3

Breakfast @ Cafe Genevieve

Cafe Genevieve is another staple in Jackson Hole. They serve the classic southern-comfort dishes (the biscuits with cajun gravy are a must!). The restaurant is also located in a historic log cabin. They take reservations too!

Explore The Town Center

On our last morning, we strolled around the town center and popped into the various shops. It's a cute square, and you can explore in an hour if you're pressed for time.
