San Antonio Travel Guide

San Antonio is the most visited city in Texas. I actually spent a lot of time in San Antonio for work and grew to really love the city. Filled with history, great food, and unique culture - San Antonio should be at the top of your list if you're looking to explore a new city. It's a relatively easy city to explore and there are plenty of tours San Antonio offers.

Here you'll find the top 3 must-do's when visiting San Antonio. And if you're thinking of planning a trip to San Antonio, but don't actually want to plan, check out my San Antonio travel guide.

Top 3 Things To Do When Visiting San Antonio

Experience The River Walk

The San Antonio River Walk spans about 15 miles and runs all throughout the city. Along the River Walk, you'll find restaurants, shops, bars, and tons of photo ops. You can take a morning walk (or run) to see different parts of the city. They also offer River Walk Boat tours, where you can learn more about the city as you head down the river.

Immerse Yourself In San Antonio’s History

San Antonio is FILLED with history. Most notably, it's home to the Alamo-the most visited attraction in all of Texas. San Antonio is also home to 18th-century Spanish frontier missions (5 to be exact), all of which can be toured today. Immersing yourself in San Antonio's history is a great way to build a deeper appreciation for the city. Don't miss the opportunity to:

  • See the Alamo

  • Take a walking ghost tour

  • See the 5 missions along the San Antonio Mission Trail

  • Go to the historic Market Square, the largest Mexican market in the US

  • See the historical homes along King William Historic District

  • Explore La Villita, one of the first neighborhoods in San Antonio

See The Saga Light Show At The San Fernando Cathedral

The Saga Light Show is a unique (and free!) experience, visually showcasing the history of San Antonio through a video art projection. The show is 24 minutes and there are usually three showings a few nights per week. You can find showtime information on their website.
