Newport Beach Travel Guide

Newport Beach is a beautiful beach town in Orange County, California - and happens to be my hometown! With most of its attractions being on the water or including a waterfront view, Newport Beach is likely what you envision when you picture Southern California. Although the most popular time to visit Newport Beach is from May - September, you're almost always guaranteed to experience the California sunshine. Keep reading for my top 3 must-do's when visiting Newport Beach. And if you're planning a trip to Newport Beach, check out my Newport Beach travel guide.

Top 3 Things To Do When Visiting Newport Beach

Rent A Duffy Boat

One of my favorite pastimes is spending an afternoon on a Duffy boat. It's also one of the most fun ways to see Newport Beach. Upon rental, they will provide a map and send you on your way. You can also bring food and drinks to enjoy on the boat. Don’t worry, the Duffy boats are electric. (Make sure to schedule in advance as they can book up quickly)

Beaches

Newport Beach is home to many, you guessed it, beaches. Take your pick at one of the gorgeous beaches (IE: Crystal Cove, Corona Del Mar Beach, Balboa Peninsula Beach), and enjoy some California sunshine.

Take A Day Trip To Catalina Island

If you can extend your trip to Newport Beach, take the Catalina Flyer to explore Catalina Island. The flyer departs from Newport Beach in the morning and takes a little over an hour to reach Avalon (Catalina). From there, you can see the shops/restaurants in downtown Avalon, go zip lining, head on a glass-bottom boat tour, and so much more. The Catalina Flyer departs from Avalon in the late afternoon. If you feel like one day isn't enough in Catalina, there are plenty of beautiful hotels to stay at. Definitely include a trip to Catalina on your Newport Beach travel guide!
