1 Day In Mykonos

My husband and I kicked off our 2 weeks in Europe with 1 day in Mykonos. We had 2 nights there, but we didn't arrive at our hotel until around 6:30p on the first day. Even though we only spent 1 day in Mykonos, I felt like we accomplished a lot. Mykonos is known as the “Island of the Winds,” which makes sense after visiting because it’s SO windy. It's also known for its gorgeous beaches, charming villages, and of course, nightlife (and beach clubs!).

One thing to note: it is also one of the most expensive places to visit, so be aware of that when planning a trip to Mykonos! That said, it’s one of the most popular Greek islands and is a ton of fun.

Here's how we spent 1 day in Mykonos! And if you're booking a trip to Mykonos and want more help planning, check out my Mykonos travel guide.

1 Day In Mykonos

Arrival Night

Stay @ Myconian Korali Relais & Chateaux Hotel

The Myconian Korali Relais & Chateaux Hotel came highly recommended to us, and we loved it. We ended up getting a free upgrade, so our room even had a pool. The hotel has gorgeous views of the ocean from most every room too. Each stay includes their complimentary breakfast buffet with amazing food AND amazing views. You can also organize transportation directly through the hotel, which was convenient (although, a little more expensive than we were used to).

Dinner @ Apaggio

Appagio is in Ornos, with tables right on the water's edge. In the outdoor seating area, they have string lights hanging down, and it looks so pretty at night. The food here is delicious, and reasonably priced considering it's Mykonos and on the water. They're most known for their fresh seafood. We had the absolute best Tzatziki here. We also got the shrimp linguini, fried fresh calamari, and mussels in saganaki.

Night Out In Mykonos Town:

We were super jet lagged from our travel day, so we didn't go out after dinner. But, if you're feeling up for it, I would recommend heading to Mykonos Town (also known as Chora). You'll have to take a car, but once you're there, there are plenty of drink spots. The most popular spots in Mykonos Town are: Negrita and Cerise Bar.

Day 1

Breakfast @ The Hotel

Like I mentioned earlier, the Myconian Korali Relais has an amazing breakfast buffet, and it's included in the room price. I still dream of their chocolate granola with fresh Greek yogurt.

See The Windmills

The famous Mykonos windmills get super crowded as the day goes on, so we headed there straight after breakfast. It was about a 15 minute walk from our hotel.

Walk Around Mykonos Town/Little Venice

After seeing the windmills, we walked around Mykonos Town/Little Venice. There are plenty of shops to pop into, and even restaurants to grab a drink at (depending on the time of day you're there).

Lunch @ Sakis

If you have time, Sakis is a great spot to grab food to go, or you can sit in their outdoor area. The gyro was SO good. We also got french fries.

Beach or Day Party

The afternoon activity depends on what type of experience you're looking for. If you're looking for something a little more mellow, I would recommend laying out at one of the beaches (Psarou or Agios Stefanos Beach). If you're looking for the classic Mykonos beach club experience (think dancing on tables, white napkins in the air, etc.), you'll want to head to Scorpios, Nammos, or Super Paradise Beach Club. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time!

Sunset Dinner/Drinks @ 180 Sunset Bar

For dinner (and an amazing sunset spot), head to 180 Sunset Bar. We made reservations ahead of time (around sunset, of course) and it was such a great experience. Our reservation was for the 1st Row Windmill view and we had a minimum spend of $100€ / person. Each section usually has a minimum spend, but it’s not hard to hit the minimum (it’s Mykonos after all). 180 Sunset Bar sits on a hilltop overlooking the Aegean Sea and has gorgeous views of the island. The best part of 180 Sunset Bar is the sunset. They make it an experience and even time the sunset to a song. The sunset itself was amazing – and it felt so peaceful.

After the sun goes down, a DJ starts playing in one of the lower areas and you can stay as long as you want. 180 Sunset Bar was one of my favorite places that I’ve ever been to when traveling – I can’t recommend it enough!
