Newport Beach is a beautiful beach town in Orange County, California – and happens to be my hometown! With most of its attractions being on the water or including a waterfront view, Newport Beach is what you would likely envision when you picture Southern California. Although the most popular time to visit Newport Beach is from May – September, you’re almost always guaranteed to experience the California sunshine. Keep reading for my top 3 must-do’s when visiting Newport Beach. And if you’re thinking of planning a trip to Newport Beach, but don’t actually want to plan, check out my Newport Beach travel guide.

Top 3 When You Visit Newport Beach
»RENT A DUFFY BOAT: One of my favorite past times is spending an afternoon on a Duffy boat. It’s also one of the most fun ways to see Newport Beach is from the water. Upon rental, they will provide you with a map and send you on your way. You can also bring food and drinks to enjoy on the boat. Don’t worry, the Duffy boats are electric. (Make sure to schedule in advance as they can book up quick)
»BEACHES: Newport Beach is home to many, you guessed it, beaches. Take your pick at one of the gorgeous beaches (IE: Crystal Cove, Corona Del Mar Beach, Balboa Peninsula Beach), and enjoy some California sunshine.
»CATALINA ISLAND: If you can extend your trip to Newport Beach, take the Catalina Flyer to explore Catalina Island. The flyer departs from Newport Beach at 9a and arrives in Avalon (Catalina) around 10:15a. From there, you can see the shops/restaurants in downtown Avalon, go zip lining, head on a glass bottom boat tour, and so much more. The Catalina Flyer departs from Avalon at 4:30p and arrives back in Newport Beach by 5:45p. If you feel like one day isn’t enough in Catalina, there are plenty of beautiful hotels to stay at as well.
