London Travel Guide

London is such a fun city and there is so much you can add to your London travel guide. The city has endless amounts of iconic landmarks (think Big Ben and the London Eye), eclectic neighborhoods, and markets. London was the last leg of my first trip to Europe, and I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. It's a city that would be super fun to be in for an extended period of time.

Top 3 When Visiting London

Double-Decker Bus

When a few girlfriends and I took our trip to London, we bought a ticket for one of the red double-decker buses. It was the perfect way to see all the sites of the city, especially on a budget. You can purchase a day or multi-day pass. The buses operate 24/7, so we even took the bus back from a night out. If you are in London for a short period of time, I highly recommend hopping on a double-decker bus and getting off at each site you want to see.

Watch The Changing Of The Guards

The Changing of the Guard is a ceremonial event at Buckingham Palace (and other royal residences in London) and is definitely a travel bucket list item. During the Changing of the Guard, the Old Guard hands over the responsibility of protecting the palace to the New Guard. The guards march in unison and perform a synchronized routine as they exchange responsibilities. It's become an iconic thing to witness because it gives tourists the opportunity to experience a centuries-old tradition.

Experience High Tea

A traditional high tea in London is a quintessential experience that will make you feel super classy. High tea, also known as afternoon tea, is a ritual where you can also enjoy tea sandwiches, fresh baked scones with clotted cream and jam, and pastries. On top of the food tasting amazing, the presentation is Instagram-worthy. Many iconic spots in London offer this, most notably The Ritz, Claridge's, or The Savoy. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time.
