Let’s be real…Mondays are pretty much the WORST.
Seriously, I would give anything to get everyone on board with the whole three-day weekend thing and have Monday’s off (I actually would take that over Fridays off). But I don’t see that happening anytime soon, so I’ve started to try and do a few simple things to help me have a productive Sunday, get back in the swing of the work week, and essentially make Monday’s less awful.
Even though these things might be a little simple, they really help me feel accomplished and ready to start the week not feeling as though I’m having weekend’s remorse.
They’re little things I can do, no matter how bad the weekend hangover.

1: Hydrate
This one is especially important after a night (or weekend) of drinking. On Sundays I always feel like my body went on vacation and forgot to tell me, so I try and drink at least 96 oz of water out of my HydroFlask, which is about 3 fills. I’m cutting myself some slack here and trying to be realistic since I usually drink 100oz every week day. Hydrating is one of the absolute best ways to get your body back on track…amongst many other important benefits obviously. I honestly feel like a new human when I finally rehydrate.
2: Sweat
Whether it’s going to a low impact barre class, hiking, or even just going for a walk outside (let’s be honest, walking is what I’m doing most frequently on weekends), I always try and do something active first thing in the AM to kick off my productive Sunday. Bonus… I feel better about myself + it helps make Monday’s work out not as hard.
3: Clean
If you’re like me, I HATE waking up on Monday morning with dirty dishes in the sink, clothes everywhere, and just a messy house. The only thing worse than Monday morning is a messy Monday morning. Not only am I bummed the weekend is over, but to try and get ready for work when there are things thrown around drives me crazy. It’s like a mess hangover. I’ve gotten into the habit of clearing the dishes out of the sink, taking the trash out, and just tidying up as much as possible on Sundays. It’s amazing how much you can get done in even just 30 minutes. Trust me, your future self will thank you.
4: Plan
So every Sunday, I’ll write out my “to do” list for the upcoming week in my planner (okay are these even a thing anymore?). I’m superrrr old school and love writing things down so that I can highlight them in pink once they’re completed. This helps me to visually figure out what I need to do and feel slightly organized. Throwing everything I need to do on paper makes the week feel less daunting. I also include an outline of my weekly work out plan.
5: Rest
During the week, I’m usually in bed by 9/9:30p. On Sundays, I’m usually in bed by 8:30p. I know-that’s pretty early. Before you start thinking I’m crazy, I don’t necessarily fall asleep right at that time. It’s pretty much just to get my body to chill out for a bit before finally getting to sleep. If I’m having a hard time unwinding, I love throwing on a face mask, + switching on my oil diffuser to get me super relaxed.
What are things you do to have a productive Sunday?
