As life started to get more hectic, I found it harder and harder to be (and feel) productive. I wanted to think of 5 things I could do everyday to be productive, no matter how the rest of the day went.
So I thought about what factors contributed to me having a productive day. From there, I was able to make a list of 5 things I wanted to do everyday.
These were 5 things I had full control over + things that weren’t too overwhelming.
It was important for me to feel like I ended everyday accomplishing the things that mattered the most to me. I found it completely shifted my outlook on the day + how I conquered it.
SO, here are the 5 things I do everyday to be productive:
This is the # 1 thing for me. I used to HATE myself if I didn’t get a workout in. I’ve found that I’m the most focused and productive when I get a workout in before I start work. I try to do an actual workout class (online or in person) + a 30 minute walk after. But, there are definitely days I’m not feeling up for all of that, so I’ll do an extra long walk. At the VERY least, I make it a point to close my exercise ring on my Apple Watch.
2: Skincare Routine
I started getting into my skincare routine about 4 years ago and have since continued to incorporate more things as time has gone on. My AM skincare routine is 9 steps – which sounds like a lot. But, it literally only takes me 6 minutes (yes, I’ve timed it) to go through the whole thing + it’s super therapeutic. Right after I get out of the shower, I hit “play” on a podcast + get started on my routine.
3: Family + Friend Time
As I’ve said before, one of my yearly goals is to make more of an effort to communicate with my family + close friends. Even though I’m always thinking about them, I wanted to make sure I communicated that to them. I also wanted to deepen/grow my relationships considering I don’t get to see them as often. So one of my daily fives is “family + friends time”. I make the effort to have a meaningful conversation with my family + close friends. Or even to just let them know I’m thinking of them.
4: Take Vitamins + Drink 96oz of Water
Since it takes 2 seconds to take vitamins + I drink my water throughout the day, I combined these. My 2020 goal was to figure out all the vitamins I wanted to take on a daily basis + start taking them. SO FUN right? I’m sure my 24 year old self would be laughing at how boring that sounds. But…vitamins are important for my mental and physical health + they make me feel focused and better about myself. I slowly started building up my vitamin collection (Target was my saving grace) + bought a weekly vitamin container. Every Sunday, I put together my vitamin container (literally takes 5 minutes while I’m watching TV) and leave it out on the counter. I’ll then usually take my vitamins everyday when I eat lunch. Along with my vitamins, I make it a point to drink 96oz of water throughout the day (3 fills of my hydro flask).
5: Self Improvement
There are hundreds of ways to incorporate self improvement into your life. It can mean walking outside with your favorite Podcast in your ears, reading a book, practicing a hobby, and the list goes ON and ON. Which is why this is different for me everyday. The majority of the time, it’s either breath work, journaling, or reading. I’ve also tried to pick three days where I’ll do more than one.
Do you have a list of things you do everyday to stay productive?
